Program or Service Description:
This unique and innovative program pairs family caregivers with experienced, trained volunteer mentors who provide guidance, encouragement and a listening ear throughout the caregiving journey. Empathetic mentors, trained by AGI, guide the caregiver as they negotiate the health care system, access community help services, and plan for the future. The special features of this program include:
– A focus on caregivers only
– The caregiver is paired with a volunteer mentor according to their individual needs
– Mentors receive specialized training, working closely with AGI professionals
Age group:
35-64 (adult), 65+(senior)
Eligibility requirements:
Eligible participants must be family members providing care for a loved one with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, or a related dementia.
