Volunteer West Island – Contact program

Volunteer West Island – Contact program
Name of Organization – Program or Service: Volunteer West Island – Contact program
Program or Service Description: Volunteer West Island understands that, for many people living alone, having contact with other people is of the utmost importance and can provide a connection and a reassurance. CONTACT, is a free and friendly telephone service open to all residents of the West Island who are 55 or over. These calls are made 3 times a week by VWI volunteers.

If you do not answer when your CONTACT volunteer calls and we have not been notified that you are away, a second call will be made 15 minutes later. If you still do not answer, a neighbor or family member, whose name you have provided as a back-up person, will be called to look in on you. If your back-up person cannot reach you, a Volunteer West Island supervisor will be advised. All CONTACT volunteers have police clearance.
