AGI is a charitable organization that offers therapeutic programs to individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. AGI provides support services to families and professional care partners, focusing on best practices in dementia care, while sensitizing the community at large through education and awareness. AGI is here to ensure that the quality of life throughout a family’s journey with Alzheimer’s is well supported in a positive and caring way!

Programs and Services

Helpline: Helpline available from Monday to Friday for individuals with a diagnosis and family members. Counselors will respond within 24 hours. 514-485-7233.

Counseling: Phone and telehealth counseling available for individuals and family.

For Families

Virtual Support Groups for Caregivers: Support groups provide a safe environment where participants can discuss changes in the lifestyle and the day-to-day challenges of being a caregiver.
AGI’s Safety Net Program: This unique and innovative program pairs family caregivers with experienced, trained volunteer mentors who provide guidance, encouragement and a listening ear throughout the caregiving journey.
Respite for Caregivers: Aisenstadt Activity Centre: The AGI Aisenstadt Activity Centre provides caregivers with a few hours of respite while their loved one is enjoying the activities at the Centre.
Caregiver education and training courses: AGI’s training courses teach basic knowledge and practical principles for interaction as well as specialized in-depth training focusing more on specific issues faced in dementia caregiving.

For Individuals with a Diagnosis

One-on-one meeting with a specialized counselor
Young Onset Dementia Social Group: AGI’s unique program is specifically tailored for those individuals under 65 years of age who have been diagnosed with dementia.
Programs to Stay Active: Online Activity Centre and Movement Drop-In.

For Professional Caregivers

The Ditkofsky Training Program: This uniquely flexible program can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the staff of a particular facility or day centre.
Activity and Stimulation Training: Activity and Stimulation Training Program for paid Home Caregivers that trains them to provide adapted, therapeutic activities in the home.
