There is a persistent misconception that food insecurity is not an issue in the West-Island. In fact, many citizens in the West-Island are food insecure because of the many factors (access, purchase power, adaptability, autonomy) that contribute to adequate diet and nutrition. In our efforts to improve the situation and considering the complexity of the issue, we strive to improve food security by using a systemic approach, rather than a reactionary one. We advocate for collective action and multi-stakeholder engagement to review the current practices that influence change. We seek to transform thinking patterns surrounding the issue with the objective to help our community develop sustainable and empowering solutions.
