AJOI’s mission is to establish and maintain street outreach work services for youth aged 12-25 years old on the West Island.

Outreach Street Work Services

Accompaniment: Individuals are offered support by an outreach worker as they are guided through the resources needed to address the challenges they
face.
Referrals: The street outreach workers refer the service users to professionals and to services that correspond to their needs such as housing, rehabilitation, food bank, access to a methadone treatment program, etc.
Emergency Assistance: An intervention worker can assist in emergency situations in getting food, clothing, etc.
Housing Search: A housing search service where an outreach worker can evaluate the needs of the service user and can assist them in searching listings, accompany them on visits or do referrals to shelter.
Mediation: A service user can request an impartial mediation with its outreach worker.
Harm Reduction Supplies: A program that offers distribution and exchange
of harm reduction supplies such as condoms, syringes and crack pipes
within a judgement free space.
Crisis Interventions: Outreach workers are trained to evaluate, intervene and
de-escalate a crisis situation if an individual’s life is deemed at risk.
AJOI-Mobile: Free shuttle service to accompany service users towards front-line resources situated downtown or elsewhere the need may be.

Community Outreach Services

Awareness & Prevention Workshops: AJOI offers tailored workshops to the
schools and the community covering multiple subjects such as: sexual and
relational health, poly-substance abuse, rights and responsibilities, etc.
AJOI services & School Collaboration: AJOI offers presentations and kiosks about the organization and its services.
