Family Resource Centre
Family Resource Centre
To help families with children experiencing learning and/or behaviour problems by offering individual and group support to the children and their parents.
Programs and Services
Parents of children age 0 to 5: A 5-session workshop for parents of 0-5 year old children presenting with behavioural issues.
Parent Programs
Mother and father specific programs designed for those struggling with parenting issues. The goals of the programs are to:
- Generate discussions relating to the struggles of mothers or fathering a child that has been labelled as “behavioural”.
- Bridging the gap…genetics/step-parenting.
- Encourage sharing of experiences in order to discourage common myths (i.e isolation, parenting failure, etc.).
- Incorporate SNAP related strategies and principles to the issues discussed.
- Promote and encourage constructive maternal and paternal practices.
- Helping mothers and fathers look beyond stereotypes and to stop perpetuating them.
- Celebrating motherhood and fatherhood as an opportunity and not just a responsibility.
Summer Camp: A summer day camp program.
SNAP Program: A program that helps fill a critical gap in children’s mental health services by teaching children with disruptive behaviours, and their parents, how to stop and think before they act and make better choices “in the moment”.
